That went well. After weeks of intense meetings, diplomatic promises and economic considerations, it appears as if the Gorn are no longer interested in eating us. At leas, I hope they aren’t. They’re a very proud species, but not as aggressive as one would think, unless they see you as prey, which I am happy to say Humanity is no longer considered, thanks in no small part to Captain Kirk’s initial contact with them. Cestus III has been mutually designated a Federation border colony and we have agreed not to encroach on Gorn Territory any further than that. Trade routes have been opened and diplomats will be exchanged. All in all, the best possible outcome.
Now that we’ve completed our diplomatic assignment to Cestus III, we’ve been assigned to investigate a previously unexplored region of space. On board is Federation Ambassador Jaymala Paret, who has chosen to join us on a circuitous route home as a civilian observer o Starfleet’s ongoing mission of exploration. Hopefully, we won’t be making any new enemies along the way, but if we do, it’s nice to know we have a diplomat on board. Of course, I’d like nothing more than a nice, quiet pulsar or trinary star system to discover right now. Something peaceful and yet new, where I don’t have to worry whether a wrong impression or a perceived slight could lead to all-out war.
