In this video, we discuss why the story in Fallout 4 is already great and how stories in games are a much harder thing to write. While Fallout 4 isn't the only game I've seen criticized for its story, it is the most recent game I've played through and so it gets spotlighted in this episode of Philosophy and Ethics in games. It's easy to point out how a story could be "better" after you've gone through it multiple times, and I think this is one of the biggest issues with the gaming community in general. We tend to think that the story in a game is bad after we've put in hundreds or thousands of hours and have picked it apart when it doesn't match what we think it should be.
Maybe instead of criticizing the writers we should be moving on to other games or stories, keeping in our minds the beauty of that first time we experienced the main quest of our favorite game or book or movie.
