When the Qashqai was introduced to Australia, Nissan changed the name because they were worried it would be called the Nissan “Cash Cow”. But that’s precisely what the Qashqai has become – a runaway success, and a breakout hit for Nissan’s embattled European operation. It’s a rare story of a successful British designed and produced mass-market car in the 21st century, and a car that’s not only been a hit in the UK, but around the world. David Twohig knows more than most about the Qashqai’s development, being the General Manager in charge of bringing it to life.
