April 21 is the day Nintendogs first released! Happy Anniversary, Nintendogs! Thank you for being there for me in times of stress and sadness, to cheer me up and allow me to see my dream of having a nice house and a dog come true, in a way. Thank you for your Naptime record, which really helped me sleep on nights I struggled to. Thank you for being a good part of my childhood.
This features the Lab, Dachshund, Chihuahua, Best Friends, Dalmatian, Japanese Chihuahua, and Shiba Inu versions of DS Nintendogs! I did a lot more than usual since I was celebrating! And I got two new dogs: Dotty the Dalmatian and Kaze the Shiba Inu!

I’ve wanted a real dog for most of my life, ever since I realized the concept of owning one when little. I asked for one, of course. I loved animals, and since I lacked much social interaction with people, the idea of a dog as my friend was exciting. But my dad was quick to say no.
In 2012, 7-year old me was fortunate to get a 3DS, which was incredibly life-changing! I discovered the eshop and Nintendogs+Cats, which was also life-changing! I didn’t know just how special it would become. I tried the demo, and shortly after begged for the cartridge! I originally wanted Toy Poodle, since poodles were and still are my favorite dogs! It also starts with my favorite house, Scandinavian. But Toy Poodle wasn’t available at the store, which might’ve been Walmart, so I got Golden Retriever instead. It would be a while until I got Toy Poodle, but in the meantime I adopted my first ever Nintendog, Goldie the Golden Retriever, and brought her to my peaceful country home. I have so many fond memories of her, the Toy Poodle Fluffy when I got Toy Poodle, and the many other Nintendogs I obtained later! Nintendogs and the 3DS were an amazing part of my childhood, and have a very special place in my heart.
Nintendogs and Nintendogs+Cats was there for me. It made the harsh reality I faced when little: loneliness, no friends, really bad bullying from kids and teachers, and literally every person in my classes having real dogs but me a little less sad. I had a really rough time in school, and it was hard to get past the shyness and fears it left me with. A real dog has always been my dream. I guess I would’ve loved a wonderful companion I could always rely on to make me feel better, play with me, and keep me company. Even go outside with me on adventures, which would’ve been so helpful since my parents always forced me to go to parks to walk with them.
Any money I can get for my biggest dream of having a real dog, and getting to experience how wonderful it is to have such a beloved companion, is extremely helpful and I’m grateful for anyone who helps!
