Just wanted to upload this since in the past I did for a lunar eclipse. The trip I went on with my parents to McKinney Falls and seeing my first total solar eclipse! We had to wake up early, at 5 AM, and left at 6 AM in order to avoid traffic, and it worked very well! We arrived at 8 AM. While hiking I saw lots of stuff before the eclipse I recorded.
Then at 1:35 PM, the time of the final clip, it happened! From what I heard from my mom it wasn’t exactly as I was expecting— seeing it become pitch black like night. BUT I’m still really happy for the experience of seeing it going so dark so quickly! The temperature also got much colder, which I liked, but unfortunately a bunch of clouds covered up the sun. I wasn’t there to look at it with glasses so it was ok, but still, would’ve liked clear skies… Still was pretty good.
I also got to cross the creek there for the first time since we had to to get to the other side, which I did barefoot of course since keeping my shoes on would’ve made it a lot harder. We went to the other side to see it go dark for several extra seconds than if we had stayed on the other side! We hiked all the way to near the top of the map.
It was also a really fun trip and there was lots to see, even though we hiked about 6 miles and I was on 4 hours of sleep. So by the end my feet were sore for the rest of the day and I was falling asleep. And of course on the way back home, there was a little traffic, but nothing too bad. I made it back in time to play Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon on Nintendo Network one last time before it was shut it down.
