On the nativity - and specifically the virgin birth - as expressive of classical metaphysics: the idea that history contains a second Adam, an interruption of ordinary causality, as reminder that contingency does not account for itself and rests on what transcends it (God, Avicennas Necessary Being, Proclus One, etc.).
