On the nativity - and specifically the virgin birth - as expressive of classical metaphysics: the idea that history contains a "second Adam," an interruption of ordinary causality, as reminder that contingency does not account for itself and rests on what transcends it (God, Avicenna's "Necessary Being," Proclus' "One," etc.).
