Day 3 with 3 steamers!
Today was the third and final day of the Indiana Rail Experience's Fall Colors Steam Special and the last day of the 2025 operating season for the Nickel Plate Road 765. While the last two days had pretty good weather, the same couldn't be said for the third and final day of excursions as wind and rain were a heavy factor in today's chase. But we managed to get some good shots of the 765 as they made their way to Hillsdale, but the day wasn't over just yet.
While the 765 was spending it's layover in Hillsdale, we drove over to the nearby Little River Railroad in Coldwater, MI to see their Pumpkin Train with none other than Little River Railroad 110 at the front of the train and as an added bonus, Little River Railroad 1 was bringing up the rear, which was a nice surprise in itself! We ended up getting a couple of stationary shots in Coldwater before driving to Quincy to see them arrive due to the rain being a conflicting factor but it was cool to finally shoot the Little River and I definitely plan on coming back in the future!
After that, we made our way back to the Hillsdale area to get a couple more shots of the 765 as she made her way back towards Pleasant Lake, IN in the cold afternoon rain. It was great seeing the 765 once again and seeing the Little River Railroad for the first time, I want to thank everyone at the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society for making an event like this possible, it was a fun time. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of these steamers in the Indiana and Michigan countryside. Enjoy!
