The newest section of the Children of the Sun Trail, which parallels the North Spokane Corridor wsdot.wa.gov/construction-planning/major-projects/north-spokane-corridor, officially opened to the public during a community celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 21, 2024. The trail was extended two miles, from East Columbia Avenue in the Hillyard neighborhood, to East Euclid Avenue. Work in the next few years, in conjunction with part of the Spokane River Crossing project wsdot.wa.gov/construction-planning/search-projects/us-395-nsc-spokane-river-crossing, will connect the Children of the Sun Trail to the Centennial Trail along the Spokane River and to Spokane Community College just to the south.
