The Newcomb Naturalist Notes is a video series produced by the Adirondack Interpretive Center, part of ESF's Newcomb Campus.
Dragonflies (Order: Odanata) are an insect with a 300 million year history. Their scientific name is derived from the Greek words anisos and pteron, meaning “unequal” and "wing" respectively, as the hind-wing of this insect is broader than the fore-wing. In this video we will be dissecting the life cycle and unique characteristics of the Dragonfly.
Funding for the Newcomb Naturalist Notes series, and Interpretive Naturalist Internship was provided by the Adirondack Park Institute. Additional equipment was provided by ESF's Digital Story Telling Studio. Brandon Murphy of ESF's Open Academy provided background music.
