It has been a roller-coaster of a ride but this new test series is finally ready!
The test rig is fully automated and capable of testing the performance of motors, propellers and ESCs, from 1S up to 6+S.
⚙ Specific sets of props for each motor size will be used for standardized motor testing. The results of measured thrust, current draw, voltage and efficiency, on various throttle and thrust levels, will be plotted in graphs.
⚙ New propellers will be added to the pool and will be tested on various motors - the results will be plotted accordingly.
⚙ ESCs will be tested on specific sets of motors/props, to reduce the variables as much as possible.
⚙ BNF/ARF/RTF quadcopters will be disassembled and their performance will be benchmarked with the stock motor and prop combination, as well as with other propellers.
⚙ In the case of micro/tiny sized quads (especially if the frame is ducted), the whole quad will be mounted on the thrust stand and the results will be divided by the number of motors, so that they can be compared to the rest of the results.
⚙ If the micro quad is brushed or the ESC is not easily accessible / directly soldered to an AiO board, the process will be automated via my Taranis X9D transmitter and a custom script, which will consistently ramp the throttle while the testing equipment logs the data.
As soon as a "class" of products is populated, you will find detailed comparison charts, comparing the performance of the tested product to the performance of products with the same (or similar) characteristics.
