The latest Subnautica 2 Experimental build is hiding several unfinished items, and the most interesting one may be a completely different way to dock the Tadpole.
In this video I explore unreleased developer-area content and take a closer look at the Tadpole Blister Dock, expanded powered storage boxes, Scourge Hives, Booster Rings, and the recently added Radio.
🚤 TADPOLE BLISTER DOCK
Unlike the current Lift Dock that connects to a Moonpool, the Blister Dock appears designed more like an underwater garage.
The front is covered by a large flat forcefield-style opening.
The apparent idea is:
Drive Tadpole through forcefield
↓
Robotic arms grab the submarine
↓
Tadpole gets pulled into the garage
↓
Player enters or exits inside the dock
If completed this way, the Blister Dock could provide a much more compact alternative to building a full Moonpool setup just to store your Tadpole.
📦 EXPANDED PORTABLE STORAGE
I also revisit the larger portable storage boxes currently hiding in the development content.
These containers hold considerably more items than normal portable storage, but the extra capacity comes with an interesting mechanic:
Battery-powered thrusters.
When the storage isn't powered, carrying it slows your movement.
Once powered, the small jets appear to compensate for some of that added weight, and in my testing they may even provide a slight movement boost.
That could make these incredibly useful for large resource-hauling trips.
👾 OTHER UNRELEASED CONTENT
I also check the latest versions of:
✅ Scourge Hive
✅ Booster Rings
✅ Radio
Most of these don't appear to have received major functional improvements yet, but I compare their current Experimental versions and show what is working right now.
The Scourge Hive in particular has existed in unfinished game data for a while, although its final behavior and role remain incomplete.
⚠️ Everything shown here is unfinished developer content.
Models, mechanics, names, animations, recipes, functionality, and even whether individual items reach the public build can all change.
The Experimental branch exists specifically to expose upcoming content in an earlier and potentially unstable state.
