Over the past year, construction crews have been building the new southbound I-5 Puyallup River Bridge that connects Fife and Tacoma. The bridge has 84 girders on 9 spans. One girder is 223 feet and holds the record as the longest prestressed concrete girder manufactured in the U.S. In May 2021, the bridge deck was finished, which means very soon, crews will move the first travel lane on to the new bridge. This video provides an up-close look at the building of the bridge deck.
