This live performance features the deeper, richer timbre of my larger chelys (tortoise shell form) lyre, which instead of having an actual tortoise shell as the resonator, which was used in the album, has a resonator fashioned in the form of a tortoise shell, made from wood. The deeper resonance is more suitable for providing a fascinating accompaniment to vocal lines; which I experiment with in the live rendition of the melody.

The 'Ode Lyre Strings' strings featured in this video are also available from Luthieros. Made of sugar cane, they have both the warmth of timbre & crispness of attack of gut, but with both the durability & stability of tuning of regular nylon.
