State of Kait | *NEW* Make Up For Ever HD Skin Smooth & Blur Concealer @StateofKait | Uploaded August 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Make Up For Ever sent me their new HD Skin Smooth and Blur concealer.
It has light to medium coverage and a feather-light texture so I think you’ll like this if you prefer a concealer that’s barely noticeable on the skin. I do really enjoy the natural, skin like finish.
I applied two layers on camera here, and that got me to a solid medium coverage but you can’t build it up more than that. I do prefer using less concealer with a more full coverage formula, but if you like something like weight and ultra thin and blendable, I can see people enjoying this.
Personally, I preferred the previous hd self setting concealer because it was creamier and has more coverage, but I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy this one - especially minimal makeup enthusiasts.
I just don’t know what’s up with their shade range. The pictures make it look worse than it is- the arm swatches look like there are only two deep shades but the shade names show five deep shades, three fair shades, four light shades, three medium shades, and five tan tones. So maybe the digital swatches make the product look worse than it is? Unclear. The arm swatches make it look like mostly medium shades but digital swatches are often a bad representation of products.
Also the shade range on this means VERY yellow. I was given 1.5r which does have some cool link undertones in it, but 2R was straight up yellow/peach on my skin. Very much not a rosy shade at all. And I’ve seen a few people swatch the shades at Sephora and decide not to buy any because the range leaned so warm. :/
This concealer reminds me a lot of the Givenchy skin caring concealer, but that one is a little creamier and has a bit more coverage so I do prefer it.
Overall, I think it’s a nice lightweight concealer but nothing groundbreaking.
