What's up Geekly Goods fam! 👀 Check out this new look at Ray Gunn, the upcoming animated movie directed by Brad Bird, and we can see our titular hero using a jetpack to get around the city.
This footage comes from the seven minutes of opening material Bird screened at San Diego Comic-Con, showing Metropia, an art deco-influenced city filled with flying cars, towering skyscrapers, and businesspeople commuting by jetpack while still carrying old-fashioned briefcases. Bird explained the concept came from imagining, "What if cities just kept getting taller and taller and more streamlined, and cars could fly, and people had jetpacks as an alternative form of getting about?" Sam Rockwell voices Ray Gunn, with Tom Waits as his alien sidekick Eyera, and Michael Giacchino composing the score.
Listen, I'm really excited for this one. Ray Gunn is coming out December 18th on Netflix, and Brad Bird has genuinely been wanting to make this movie since the '90s.
