FPV VIDEO LINES!
When I bought my first Lawmate 500mW 2.4GHz video transmitter for FPV I was very disappointed to find that every combination of UBEC, LC filter, choke, toroid, parallel capacitor that I tried still caused the dreaded "video lines" from switching noise, as well as some motor-induced ripple current. The picture was terrible and I thought I was going to have to eat the $50 for the transmitter.
SOLUTION:
Based on some research I found the NGH PSU specifically designed for the Lawmate transmitter. I actually is a switching power supply itself, but has a very effective LC filter (choke plus capacitor) onboard. I was relieved to find all the video lines were totally eliminated.
This is a very small, light power supply. The cost is a little high but worth it in my opinion. It is tedious to precisely solder the leads onto the circuit board, but it does give you the flexibility of using the exact right length for your application. The online instructions (PDF) are very detailed, with pictures.
As with all my videos I bought this product retail for my personal use and made the video to help other potential users. I have no affiliation with NGH.
