Scallydandling about the books | New fiction: House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng and Windmill Hill by Lucy Atkins @scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 | Uploaded July 2023 | Updated October 2024, 57 minutes ago.
I enjoyed both these novels which were published in late May 2023.

Windmill Hill by Lucy Atkins is a delightful romp, a character-driven thriller set in a Sussex windmill and featuring two great older women characters. Not taxing but held my interest.

The House of Doors by Tan Twan Eng is multi-layered historical fiction based on real life events in early 20th century Penang. I was excited to see a new book by Tan a decade after The Garden of Evening Mists which I loved. I was delighted to find it lived up to my expectations.
