A new children's book is encouraging young readers to embrace diversity, ask questions and build friendships across racial differences.

The book, "From Nerves to New Beginnings", is the first in a series of six written during the COVID-19 pandemic by author Ferozah Kothdiwala.

Ms Kothdiwala says the story, which is based around Islam and being a Muslim, reflects the real experiences of Caribbean people.

Speaking at the book launch at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Sunday, the former educator shared some insights into the story.
