Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases, causing millions of new cases and up to 1.5 million deaths each year. In this episode of Driving Discovery, UC Davis Health features groundbreaking research by Professor Imran Khan, who is developing a new blood test for tuberculosis, addressing a major limitation of current TB testing methods.
The test has completed clinical trials in India. If approved for expansion, it could be used in countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh, supporting global efforts led by organizations like the World Health Organization to improve TB diagnosis and reduce the disease’s impact in some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.
