Testing out the new Canon Ra Astro camera with a side-by-side low light comparison of both the Ra & R near the end at 14:13. First part with zoomed footage is with the Tamron 18-400mm lens, and then at 8:47 with the Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 USM lens (used lens from mpb.com).
When using the 5x focusing zoom to go in further, it looks pretty good, but the Ra has a 30x with no intermediary between the 5x & 30x, and at the full 30x the footage looks terrible and isn’t clear at all.
I did have issues with the new camera - there were 3 stuck red pixels and at least 1 stuck white one, but the main problem was intermittent flashing on the screen. It got so bad near the end it was trippy looking. *Updated Note* Eventually after a 2nd try of doing the Manual Sensor cleaning trick, it did remove the stuck pixels.
The crescent moon was 20% lit in the SW, and Jupiter & Saturn were in the South.
