On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the new Genesis GMR-001 LMDh Hypercar took to the track at Imola for a day of testing. It is the Korean luxury brand's first racing hypercar, designed to compete in the top classes of the WEC (World Endurance Championship) and subsequently in IMSA under LMDh regulations. Developed by Genesis' motorsport division, Magma Racing, with the support of Hyundai Motorsport, the car marks the group's official entry into top-level motorsport. The car is based on a standardised hybrid platform typical of the LMDh category, with the chassis developed in collaboration with French manufacturer Oreca. It features a 3.2-litre Twin-Turbo V8 engine developed in-house, combining two 1.6-litre four-cylinder engines used by Hyundai in the World Rally Championship (WRC), with approximately 60% of its components shared. Power is limited by regulation to approximately 670–680 hp (500 kW). As required by the LMDh regulations, it uses a spec system supplied by Bosch, Williams Advanced Engineering batteries, and an Xtrac gearbox. The drivers confirmed for 2026 are three-time Le Mans winner André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, Mathieu Jaminet, Paul-Loup Chatin, Dani Juncadella, and the young talent Mathys Jaubert. Nella giornata di Mercoledì 11 Marzo 2026, la nuova Genesis GMR-001 LMDh Hypercar è scesa in pista ad Imola per una giornata di test. Si tratta della prima hypercar da corsa del marchio di lusso coreano, progettata per competere nelle classi di vertice dell'endurance mondiale, WEC, e, successivamente, IMSA, secondo i regolamenti LMDh. Sviluppata dalla divisione sportiva Genesis Magma Racing con il supporto di Hyundai Motorsport, l'auto segna l'ingresso ufficiale del gruppo nelle competizioni automobilistiche di massimo livello. L'auto è basata su una piattaforma ibrida standardizzata tipica della categoria LMDh con il telaio sviluppato in collaborazione con il costruttore francese Oreca. Adotta un motore V8 Twin-Turbo da 3,2 litri sviluppato internamente e deriva dall'unione di due motori a 4 cilindri da 1,6 litri utilizzati da Hyundai nel WRC (Mondiale Rally), condividendo circa il 60% dei componenti. La potenza è limitata dal regolamento a circa 670–680 CV (500 kW). Come previsto dal regolamento LMDh, utilizza un sistema spec fornito da Bosch, batterie Williams Advanced Engineering e cambio Xtrac. I piloti confermati per il 2026 sono il tre volte vincitore di Le Mans André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, Mathieu Jaminet, Paul-Loup Chatin, Dani Juncadella e il giovane talento Mathys Jaubert.
