The 2025 MINI Convertibles are here, bringing a fresh update to the beloved open-top experience that defines the brand. This new generation of MINI Convertibles continues the tradition of blending fun and freedom with a touch of luxury. Known for its "Always Open" spirit, the MINI Convertible ensures that driving with the roof down is an easy, effortless experience. The automatic soft-top roof opens in just 18 seconds, letting drivers enjoy the wind and sun on the go—whether in the city, on scenic country roads, or cruising along the highway.

Although the popularity of convertibles has waned since their peak in the 2000s, MINI remains committed to its open-top offering, giving it a significant facelift to match the latest generation of MINI models. This dedication ensures that drivers can still access an affordable, compact convertible in a market where these options are increasingly rare. As Stefan Richmann, Head of the MINI brand, expressed, they are thrilled to keep the convertible alive within their lineup, a model that first made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2004.

This latest version of the MINI Convertible retains its iconic look but with modern updates. It features a new octagonal grille, accompanied by standard LED headlights that offer three customizable light signatures. The headlights also include a charming welcome and goodbye animation to greet the driver. The soft top can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 18.6 miles per hour, and it only takes 15 seconds to close the roof again. Hidden behind the rear headrests is a safety system that automatically activates if a rollover is detected.

In terms of practicality, the convertible provides 5.65 cubic feet of storage space with the top open, expanding to 7.59 cubic feet when the top is closed. For a distinctive look, MINI offers an optional black soft top with a contrasting gray Union Jack pattern. Additionally, the John Cooper Works trim (JCW) offers a more aggressive design, with unique front and rear styling for those seeking a sportier edge.

The interior of the new MINI Convertible provides a choice of grey or black seats with a mix of imitation leather and textile. For a more premium feel, the JCW sports seats come in beige and Nightshade Blue with contrasting stitching.

Under the hood, the United States market gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the entry-level model, producing 161 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds. The MINI Cooper S offers more power, with 201 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, reaching 60 miles per hour in just 6.7 seconds.

The new MINI Convertible is set to hit dealerships in the United States in January, with prices starting at $34,945 including the destination fee. Meanwhile, the MINI Cooper S model will start at $38,195, with additional details about the upcoming John Cooper Works model expected soon.
