NeuroCare Arm: Brain-Controlled Robotics for Assistive Living with Unicorn Hybrid Black | BR41N.IO Hackathon Project
What can a team build in just 24 hours using real-time EEG and Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technology?
At the BR41N.IO BCI & Neurotechnology Hackathon, Team NeuroCare Arm developed a brain-controlled assistive robotics system that enables people with severe paralysis to interact with the world using their neural activity. By combining the Unicorn Hybrid Black EEG headset, Unicorn Suite, P300 Brain-Computer Interface technology, Unity software, and a robotic arm, the team transformed intention into real-world actions.
The system allows users to focus on visual targets that trigger commands such as calling for help, bringing water closer, or delivering medication. Real-time EEG acquisition, neural decoding, and robotic control work together to create a practical assistive technology solution for neurorehabilitation, healthcare technology, cognitive neuroscience, and human-computer interaction.
A key advantage of Unicorn Hybrid Black is that teams can immediately start building Brain-Computer Interface applications without worrying about hardware integration, EEG acquisition, signal quality, data streaming, or artifact correction workflows. Unicorn Suite provides a ready-to-use BCI platform that enables rapid prototyping, real-time processing, and neurotechnology innovation from the first minute of development.
In only 24 hours, the team created a complete EEG-based assistive technology prototype that combines neural decoding, robotics, Brain-Computer Interfaces, and real-world patient support. This project demonstrates how modern neurotechnology can help restore independence and improve quality of life when physical movement is limited.
