In March 2023, the European Commission put forward a proposal for a 'net-zero industry act' that aims to expand the manufacturing capacity of net-zero technologies in the EU and enhance the resilience of its energy system. The proposed regulation would set up enabling conditions for the manufacturing of 10 net-zero technologies. The proposed regulation would aim to ensure that, by 2030, the manufacturing capacity in the EU for these strategic net-zero technologies reaches an overall benchmark of at least 40 % of the EU's annual deployment needs.

$EPRS online policy roundtable: The G20 in a time of geopolitical upheaval Jointly organised with European Parliament in ASEAN | EPinASEAN On 1 December 2023 Brazil will assume the Presidency of the G20 for 2024, following India in 2023 and Indonesia in 2022. Under the shadow of Russias war on Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, and in the context of a world that is still facing up to the social, economic and political effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the consecutive presidencies face the task of steering the group of major economies towards some degree of consensus on key issues, despite growing fractures and polarisation. A fortnight before the new presidency takes over, this EPRS event will examine the role and importance of the G20, the outcome of the most recent Leaders Summit in Delhi, and the agendas of the consecutive presidencies of Indonesia, India, Brazil and South Africa (2025) in the current geopolitical environment.
