Neobarrettia spinosa (Giant Texas Katydid) adult female lays eggs by sticking her long ovipositor into the ground where they'll be safe. She then uses the ovipositor to push the soil around to cover her tracks making it more difficult for predators to locate the ova. I should have had deeper substrate for her but she did fine even at this depth.
