Gov. Ned Lamont visited Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven, where the owners say tariffs are increasing costs for aluminum, grains and other goods while customers spend less on beer.
Lamont blamed President Donald Trump’s policies, including tariffs, for contributing to the rising cost of living. Republican gubernatorial nominee Ryan Fazio said he disagrees with tariffs but argued that Lamont’s policies have raised taxes and made electricity more expensive.
The Budget Lab at Yale estimates tariffs implemented by Trump will cost the average family an additional $1,000 a year, while the newest round of tariffs on Canada will cost the average family about $25 a year.
