On Sunday, June 6th at approximately 1:52 a.m., Deputy Adkins was traveling on Newberry Road when he was almost struck head-on by an impaired driver. The driver was arrested and provided breath samples of .236 and .227. A person is presumed intoxicated at .08 by Florida law.
In 2020, there were 746 fatalities from crashes involving alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both in Florida.
