Naxos is the largest of the Cyclades islands and one of the most beautiful Greek islands. Naxos Town or Chora includes the island’s main port. It is considered one of the most beautiful Cycladic villages in the entire island group for its fine architecture that combines Venetian and Cycladic elements. Due to its position, it offers a variety of landscapes. Its proximity to the sea combined with the large number of tourist attractions and amenities make Chora the most preferable place to be on the island. It has kept an authentic and traditional character and it has a strong local color. Portara, Naxos’ most popular landmark, lies on the neighbouring Palatia Islet. It is the marble gate of an unfinished ancient Greek temple dedicated to god Apollo.
