As part of a submarine interconnection project, Red Eléctrica used this ECOncrete Trench Block solution to stabilize and protect the high-voltage cable while ensuring restoration of the natural reef.

10 months after installation, the concrete blocks have mimicked the local marine environment and are virtually undetectable. Algae and sponge species have colonized the structure, attracting fishes, crustaceans, mollusks, and echinoderms.

The use of ECOncrete technology enabled the construction of a nature-positive cable protection, restoring biodiversity and providing an ecological improvement over traditional submarine cable protection systems.
