Although just seven years old, the Mongols Motorcycle Club in Australia faced a full-scale police operation in a “National Day of Action,” featuring coordinated raids, arrests and seizures. Let me tell you about it.

The Mob Reporter here with news of a coordinated biker blitz by eight police agencies that saw raids on homes, businesses and at least one clubhouse of the Mongols: 18 people were arrested, all told, in the Dec. 3, 2020, operation, including Mongols office holders, other members and associates, police said.
The Mongols MC was formed in California in 1969 and took its name and imagery from the Mongols of the ancient past, when Genghis Khan led an irresistible invasion and built a mighty empire in the 13th century. The Mongols saw themselves as outsiders, even within biker culture. Original members were drawn together — legend has it — by a ban by the Hells Angels on Hispanic bikers joining their club. That outsider status is reflected in their motto: “Respect Few, Fear None.” It’s a motto found written on the bike and other gear seized in Australia this week.
Mongols came to Australia by way of a large-scale patch over. Which is what it’s called when members if an established motorcycle club switch their patches for another, often larger, club. When most members of the homegrown Aussie biker club The Finks switched to the American biker brand in 2013, it instantly put the Mongols on the map down under. And gave the Australian members access to a global network of connections and support. Mongols now claim 10 chapters in Australia.
Police say that the raids captured valuable intelligence on the club and its activities. I don’t know what they found. But I imagine it won’t be good news for the Mongols. Thanks for watching.
