Several groups are warning against allowing China to again transform Philippine-claimed maritime features into an artificial island and military outpost. They noted that China has done this to Panganiban Reef. They said similar developments should not be allowed at Bajo de Masinloc and Ayungin Shoal. The groups issued the warning during a lightning rally outside the Chinese Embassy in Makati City on National Heroes Day. Another group of protesters condemned China's demand that the Philippines remove the BRP Sierra Madre from Ayungin Shoal.
