This was not the update I thought we were getting today. NASA just reshuffled the entire Artemis roadmap. The headline news is that NASA is adding an Artemis mission.
On February 27, 2026, at a press conference we thought was about the Artemis II delay (still scheduled for April), NASA announced they have added a brand-new Artemis mission, canceled a major SLS upgrade that’s already billions of dollars deep, are flying more SLS rockets more frequently, and hinted that Gateway Station may be in serious trouble. But perhaps the biggest surprise was an announcement that we might see two lunar landings in 2028.
