Now this is low, even by underworld standards. A passenger on a plane from the Caribbean to Italy faked being disabled to smuggle 13 kilos hidden in his wheelchair. He was outwitted by a sniffer dog. Let me tell you about it.

The Mob Reporter here with quick hit news of an outrageous low point in the life of an international smuggler, a career that’s already scandalous. When a Sept. 2, 2022, flight from the Dominican Republic landed at Milan’s international airport, the largest airport in Italy’s north, a Spanish passenger was in a motorized wheelchair. Airport staff were on hand to help the man who declared he was unable to walk, navigate the crowded airport, filled with a crush of passengers returning from summer holidays.
It looked an unlikely scene to arouse suspicion, but a clever sniffer dog named Crai wasn’t fooled. Crai is a detector dog with the Guardia di Finanza, one of Italy’s federal police agency. His nose told him something was up. they cut into the leather padding of the wheelchair. In the back rest and in the bottom cushion, they found what Crai was telling them was there: 13 kilos worth about US$2-million. He was walked over to prison.
