In honor of NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, five of our acclaimed science fiction writers deconstruct their creative process and tell us what motivates them to write.
"You have to believe in yourself, and I think that's the most crucial thing to any form of art," is just one piece of inspiring wisdom from veteran science fiction author Kate Elliott. Joining her in sharing their own motivational advice are fellow sci-fi writers Elizabeth Hand, Timothy Zahn, Robert Silverberg, and James Morrow. "I've always started with scribbling something on the back of an envelope, a basic summary of the book, and then expanding it," says Silverberg.
