A capture test with several games using an alternate method that's easier for plug and play compatible for any HD TV, different from the usual component or RGB I would use on other consoles on a CRT (and for more "serious" recordings like I would do for no-hit attempts or something similar). It is overall a more basic/simplistic capture of an old console.
- This is also to see how the many different games in different frame rates are consistent or not in Youtube's playback in a single unique encode used for this capture.
- The parts of these games chosen in the video are chosen due to differences in color strength/darkness/brightness.
- Since this is just a quick basic encode, the bit rate is not as high as it would usually be, so Super Mario 64 and Yoshi's Story may have more color bleeding than usual. Those two games in particular seem to be handled better through even an HDTV than any capture software regardless of any settings so far with these wires.
- There is no cropping of any per-game natural overscan for any of these games, including Resident Evil 2, which changes resolution slightly based on which area/screen you're on (can create issues with modern capture set-ups and settings that can't be forced to stay at a static resolution for its file).
- No de-interlacing used.
- There is a very slight audio fuzz/buzzing typical of these consoles when using this capture method that can be heard during silence.
I'll likely get my own more optimized cables/set ups specifically for this system similar to what I have for NES/SNES/Genesis, but N64 capture/signals are very odd compared to other consoles, and it's very good to have a capture method that is easy to set up on any TV for this and other pre-HD systems, and has been more needed lately for quick capture of certain games when working on other people's videos.
