This level got 5th place in my contest as well as the Community Favorite award for winning the bracket in my discord server! I REALLY love this level for how well its able to show a landscape and journey into this unknown place. The lore goes crazy on this project, being based on Japanese legend of Kisaragi station that exists only in the realm of the afterlife. The project is insane with its progression, and additionally has a lot of hidden details such as the ghost girl, hidden foxes, and more! Clear and fun gamepaly, decoration that is consistently fantastic for the 4k object limit, and extremely innovative ideas definitely makes this one of the most needed Purist levels of rate in my opinion. Definitely check this one out! :D

That means a 1.0 level with no free rotate, 4000 objects or less, 2-9* in difficulty, using an in-game song, and more! This level is inspired by and dedicated to Hume from the Supertux Development Team.
This is also my final level, and with that, my most meaningful as well. Here, let me try to explain:

Hume has played a very important role in my creative development. I first started playing the game Supertux when I was 6 years old, and learned very quickly how to play and complete the main story map. From that, I tried working in the editor that the first game provided, but could not really get a grasp on how to use it and its limited features. Rather, I wrote my ideas down in a notebook for when the official game would get a proper editor. Still, my ideas were basic, and rather than explore new and unique options, they stayed similar to the basic storyline without much alteration.
This all changed when I was about 9 years of age. I downloaded and played my first add-on map, Hume’s Islands by Hume. This was a complete game-changer for me, as not only were the levels a significant challenge, they were also insanely unique, to the point where almost every level was unconventional in one way or another. The world map consisted of 49 levels and 35 achievements (a custom innovation built by Hume himself), as well as grouping levels into “zones” based on their theme (ie arctic, dark forest, water, etc.).
I loved playing this collection and managed to beat every level with all achievements about 7 months later. But what proved to be more important than the challenge was the impact it had on my creativity. Now inspired by Hume, my worldmaps designed in my notebook were now wacky and unique, broken down into areas of similar theme. However, it was nothing even close to what Hume’s islands were. You see, Hume and his worldmap triggered a spark I didn’t realize I had: A love for themes and creativity. I started planning out Supertux levels themed after a farm, human anatomy, heck even a pinecone fortress. The only thing that was missing now was a way to make my notebook imaginations become a reality.
Low and behold, 5 years later, I got the full version of Geometry Dash.
Long time viewers of my account would know that my levels never followed modern conventions. I am a completely self-taught creator, similar to Hume, who would showcase one’s creativity no matter how messy, outrageous, or even unplayable it was. Great examples can be found in my 2.0 projects: Water Box, Escape the Room, Honeycomb Hollow (the 2nd bee-themed level in GD besides Honeycomb Runner), Glittering Glory’s Penguin bossfight, Turkey Techno, The TOWER, Christmas Jingle, etc. When 2.1 came out, I continued this pattern of unconventional levels, but more closely aligned to a theme. However, I never forgot about my roots, especially the one’s put in by Hume.
Perhaps the most obvious inspiration from Hume can be seen by the way my levels can be broken into zones, all leading into one another.
For example:
-Winterwind, Frostbitten Ridge, Artic Ocean, Christmas City (not finished), Christmas Jingle, Alaskian North (not finished), Beyond the Summit (not finished).
Similarly:
- AroundTheLighthouse, Ocean Wreckage (not finished), Clover Hills, Lost Cabin (not finished), Sunken Swamp, Gator (not finished), Forest of Knowledge (not finished).
And lastly:
- Hallows Eve (was in progress), GnG (was in progress), The TOWER, Danse Macabre, The Horror Facility, The Missile Factory, Cold Cut Combo, Omega Lily Pad, A Toxic Transaction (was in progress).
Regardless of what I say, it would be impossible for me to accurately describe how much Hume and his world maps have impacted my life. My 7 years of level building would never have been possible without the spark Hume had provided. This is why I have made Inspired by Hume my final level: To go full circle on what first inspired my creations. Thank you Hume for everything that you have created! I am glad to have been inspired by you.
I also must thank LMAnubis, Epic Lucas, and every other themed creator in GD. You are what keeps levels unique and fresh, with a focus of inspiration outside of GD rather than borrowing other’s ideas. I am glad to have also been inspired by y’all!
And thank you everyone, not just for taking the time to read this, but also by supporting me throughout this journey. I hope that you enjoy this level as much as I do!
