There are three main types of muscles in the human body: cardiac, smooth, and skeletal. Cardiac muscle (heart muscle), smooth muscles (occuring in the walls of hollow organs), and skeletal muscles (attached to a bone). Myocytes are muscle cells that contract and relax creating movement in the body.
