FULL POLICE PRESS CONFERENCE: On June 23, police found the bodies of Sarah Myers, her four children — 13-year-old Harper, 11-year-old Hudson, 10-year-old Gavin, and 10-year-old Gracelynn — and her mother, Amy Steadman, following a wellness check. On July 27, police confirmed that Amy and Sarah died by suicide, while the children's deaths were ruled homicides.
Evidence led police to believe the family was intentionally poisoned with over-the-counter medications and prescriptions; one child also sustained fatal injuries. Police say handwritten notes from Amy and Sarah allude to killing the children to "protect them from alleged abuse they suffered while in Utah."
From 2015 to 2019, Sarah was married to Brady Harmon and lived in Utah with the children. Brady says that in November 2019, Sarah left with the kids without notice and went to New York. The couple divorced in 2020 and had been in a lengthy custody battle for the past six years. In April, Brady was granted the right to have his children live with him for two months out of the year; they were scheduled to stay with him in Utah on July 1. He calls the abuse allegations from Sarah and Amy "a load of crap," and police say they found no evidence to verify Sarah's abuse allegations.
