On Xbox launch day, Walmart got our business. Here's a quick video with screen captures to show you why. The only information we knew before planning the purchase was a launch day of November 10, and the fact that some sites were online-only, rather than in store. So we went to the following sites: Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, BH Photo, and Costco. None of those sites gave any indication they knew today was the Xbox Series X and S launch day. Kudos to whoever is running the Walmart.com site, because they actually put in some special coding with a countdown timer, rather than letting this just be another item in their general e-commerce platform! Amazon, my usual go-to for online purchases, showed the Xbox Series X was temporarily unavailable until shortly before launch, then several scammers/sellers added some for over $1K! Walmart won this online contest, hands down. It wasn't perfect, but in my opinion the online Xbox buying experience was better at Walmart than anywhere else.
Unfortunately, while the online ordering went smooth, the store pickup was not. We got the email saying the item was "ready" but it took a long time at the store, due to repeatedly asking employees for help and the kiosk system not working. But despite the mess at the store, Walmart exceeded expectations since we have the thing today!
