so elle (@StarkQueen ) started a marvellous new project titled 'OCtober' – a whole month dedicated to vidding our original characters! she has created a list of prompts for each day – maybe this project is something for you? it's still early!

the prompt for today is "OTP". it feels sacrilegious to choose just one (yes i'm the type of writer who ships her own couples...what's the point otherwise? :D), but the results of a little poll tied ellyrei/rikash and eirik/vreia in first place for the prompt "fan favourites" (Oct 2nd), and I didn't finish this in time, so...OTP it is :D (a vid for eirik/vreia will come this month as well!)

›› story (??):

This goes a bit further than most mep parts & videos i've made with them so far. The focus is very much on their relationship rather than the plot this time. (also not chronological)
Ellyrei comes to court as Rikash's healer, but their relationship develops beyond that very quickly, both of them falling in love. There are several obstacles in their way, however – one being that he is arranged to marry (luckily, his wife could not care any less since she is very determinedly not interested in men). Another, their difference in social status. Another – they're both oblivious idiots in denial.
And last but not least: she's a member of a band of revolutionaries hellbent on taking down Rikash's family and bringing back magic and, most importantly, the dragons of old. When their webs of secrets intertwine, catastrophe is close at hand.
Without going into too much detail – at the end of book one, ...stuff... goes down. It bad. As a result, Ellyrei is stuck in the stone fortress that was Rikash's home, doing her best to keep the country alive (quite literally, but explaining the whole magic system would be too much XD) and resorting to means she never should she'd have to, never even thought possible. Meanwhile, Rikash ends up heavily wounded, in exile, lord in name only. Along with the surviving rest of his court, he seeks refuge in the Empress's capital, after years of withstanding Her and his elder sister's summons to join the court (and potentially become one of the Empress' noble lovers).
The distance doesn't make things easier, neither do their opposing positions. Unfortunately, neither does it have an effect on their feelings for one another.
