What are your ways to heal from heartbreak? Have you ever longed to feel better and go on with the next phase of your life? Laura Blank found healing balm through her daily spiritual practice. As a bonus, she learned more about balance, harmony, and how to recognize cycles of life as they begin and end.
Laura opens her talk at an Eckankar seminar by recalling the time when breaking up with her partner left her depressed and without a home. For a couple of months friends offered love, food, and the comfort of couches where she could sleep. Finally she realized that what she wanted to do next was fulfill a lifelong dream of living in the woods by herself.
At the shelter she built in the woods, Laura fortified herself spiritually by singing "HU," an ancient name for God, for protection. While singing "HU" in the forest, a feeling of peace began to wash over her.
For a month, she spent her days harvesting fruit, running through fields, and observing animals mill about near her shelter.
Laura says about one special day: “I felt this tingling feeling creep up through my feet and overwhelm my whole body with love and joy. I was vibrating. And when the feeling got to my chest, I burst out laughing and started skipping around the woods. It was a moment of absolute bliss. I did not want to leave. I wanted to stay there forever.”
