So, the origin of this track starts with the opening chord of Aqua/Ocean Twists from LakeFepards XF Extreme Formula. I had been listening to that track (and the rest of the OST) a lot, so I was in a DnB mood. DnB worked well with Serris, so why not try it again with an original? I was also wanting to tackle some kind of boss theme, so maybe itd work out! On top of that, I wanted to loosen the channel limitations Super Metroid tends to have just a bit and really utilize all 8 channels to their maximum.
The A section of the track really just fell out from that opening 9 chord. I cant really explain my decision making, but the track just flowed! Choir 9 chord hits, eighth note bass line with a few fills, fairly basic DnB drum pattern, glockenspiel lead, a counter-melody part, a riser using some crazy chord, the works.
Of course, Ive gotta namedrop RRThiel again lol. I really liked his use of C to D chords in his SMW underwater track (aka Space Felony). Its such a warm sound and has just a tinge of that hero vibe that I like, haha. Of course, cant have hero without a horn!
The C section was tough to come up with. I needed to loop back to the beginning, but my just write it approach left me with a How do I get back to C# from C? lol. I eventually settled on the stair step chord change approach with another choir crescendo to get back!
Like with Thoha Ruins, I dont have all the Super Metroid samples available to use. I once again approximated those through synths or I used samples from other Metroid games (aka the Prime choir). I heard a lot of inspirations while I was writing this, haha. F-Zero, Star Fox, Chrono Trigger, even some FF7. I think the end result ended up a bit closer to something from a racing game instead of Metroid, haha. Hopefully you enjoy my experiment all the same!

‘Tis the season to be jolly and thankful! And what better to be thankful for my viewers than to upload a ton of covers? This month, I will be uploading a new video every weekend, instead of every other weekend. That’s 5 covers this month! With that said, we’re kicking things off with good ole’ Kirby.
Kirby’s Dreamland 3 was a game that eluded me for a long time. My first play through of this game was after I purchased the Kirby 20th Anniversary Dream Collection. Before I played the game, though, I listened to the bundled CD. There were 2 tracks from KDL3 was on it, and one of them was Ripple Field 1. The song really reminded me of Aqua Star from Kirby 64, which is one of my favorites, but was also very fresh and different from the other water level tunes I was used to.
I had started, and actually finished, this mix a long time ago. The date created field on my new computer has 12/31/14 stamped on it, but this was made way before I got this new computer. After starting the channel, I reached way back, dusted it off, polished it up, and here we are! I went with the 2A03 style as a throwback to Kirby’s Adventure, as well as to get my feet wet with the software. Go ahead and give some critiques on things I can improve on. Can you say, “PSYYYYYCHE!”? In my last video, I said that this weeks upload would be from the last round of the Robots vs. Knights competition Im in. The competition was pushed back a week, so I didnt have it ready for this weeks upload. So, I was persuaded to join in on some #SonicMonth2017 fun during my scramble to figure out what I should be working on!
If you read the description in my “King of the Kuiper Belt” upload (https://youtu.be/BtmW_W6NlpM), I said that I had an idea for a funk song in my head. THIS song was that original idea. Im not kidding when I say this has been in my head for at least 6 months lol. I just finally had the push to take the plunge and quit telling myself, “Youre not ready for this.” Lots of techniques applied from the past, plus I learned a few new ones, so overall success!
