π I've just spent three days at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona β the world's biggest tech show β in my role as Futurist in Residence for @Nokia . Here are the trends and technologies that genuinely stopped me in my tracks. #Sponsored
The overarching theme this year was the IQ Era. AI was everywhere β in the devices, in the networks, and walking around the show floor on two legs.
π± Here's what stood out:
β Devices are smarter than ever β tri-fold phones that unfold into a full tablet, completely waterproof, with built-in generative AI that lets you create photos, music and video from a single prompt
β Agentic AI was the biggest buzzword of the entire show β now being built directly into phones and devices, turning them from tools you interact with into assistants that act for you
β Smart glasses were the surprise highlight β real displays, real AI, letting you ask questions about what you're seeing, navigate, translate live conversations and even use them as a teleprompter
β Physical AI was impossible to miss β humanoid robots performing tasks, industrial automation, connected and self-driving cars. AI is leaving the screen and entering the physical world
β Network infrastructure is the theme most business leaders haven't grasped yet β none of the above works without AI-native networks redesigned for the new demands AI places on speed, latency and capacity
β‘ The companies that will lead the AI era won't just be the ones with the best models. They'll be the ones who invested in the infrastructure to carry them.
