I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING!
So you may notice that this time I used the movie audio instead of the soundtrack version. Here's the reason: the songs of this movie are all covers, mostly from the 50's and 60's, so for the OST they recorded the entire songs, so in cases like this, were the scene in the movie only showed a bit of the song, the soundtrack version ended up being too long, and missed the point of the scene. So I found the movie scene in YouTube, and decided to use that audio instead, so sorry if the volume is a little low.
Ok, with that cleared up, let's talk about the cast.
Spike as Sunny was a very obvious choice. Sunny is a little guy, who always tries to cheer up other people, he's noble, others sometimes take advantage of his kindness, and even though he tries to help and has good intentions, he ends up messing up everything and causing a big mess, so he must try to find a way to fix it. HOW is that not Spike?
Now, for Dawn, Mary Grace Foster had suggested Pinkie Pie, but I also considered Rarity. She could've worked because she is very flirty, always worries about her looks, she giggles with about any cute guy, even though she's never been truly in love. Not to mention, Spike has a crush on her.
But I ended up choosing Pinkie because (like she says it herself in the video) she's perky, dances funny and has poofy hair. Also, she and Dawn have about the same energy level, they're super possitive and love to sing and go to parties. And Pinkie always tries to be friends with everypony, so that kinda counts as flirty, right? And on top of all that, she has a much closer relationship with Rainbow Dash than Rarity, since Pinkie annoys RD , but they both care a lot for each other, and it reminded me of Dawn and Marianne's sister relationship.
