At the Golden Oak Library before dawn, Twilight Sparkle awakens with excitement and prepares to partake in Winter Wrap Up Day, a local annual event where the community manually changes the season from winter to spring. When Spike asks why they don't clear out winter with magic like in Canterlot, Twilight explains that Ponyville was founded by Earth ponies, and as such, no magic was ever involved. Twilight finishes preparing and heads outside, only to find that the sun has yet to rise.
