What’s the scarf equivalent of an Hermès Blue Box? It’s an Hermès Brown Box🤎 But let’s start at the beginning. An Hermès Blue Box is an Hermès box that’s lined in blue to signify a special edition bag. In the scarf world, these special editions are called “exceptional” scarves and these come in their own special boxes. An “exceptional” scarf will have beading or embroidery all done by hand. Not all “exceptional” scarf boxes are quite this exceptional, but some of them (like this one) are made from wood and are lined in brown silk with Hermès ribbons used to support the top. This scarf is called “Quadrige au Fil” by Pierre Péron. This edition was released in 2014, but the pattern was originally released just as “Quadrige” in 1963 in a 90cm. There are a few differences between this “exceptional” edition and regular editions. Regular Hermès scarves are released in silk twill from farmed silk worms eating mulberry leaves. This creates a uniform silk. However this scarf is made from Tussah silk, which is a more raw, uneven silk. It uses silk from wild silk worms that eat primarily oak. This scarf also doesn’t have any printed elements, the entire motif uses embroidery to complete the pattern.
