I got a DEXA scan done and used it to test how accurate my home smart scales really are. In this video, I compare results from the Eufy P3 Smart Scale and the RENPHO Morphoscan Nova against a professional DEXA body composition scan to see which one gets closer to the real numbers.
Two years ago, my Eufy scale lined up almost perfectly with my DEXA results. This time, things flipped: RENPHO came out much closer on body fat percentage and fat mass, while Eufy was noticeably off. I break down the numbers side by side, including weight, BMI, body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mass, visceral fat and more.
I also dig into something unexpected in the DEXA report itself: a right to left asymmetry in my results, likely tied to my hip implant throwing off the scan's internal measurement boundary rather than any real muscle imbalance. I walk through why that pattern shows up the way it does.
