A day in my life with a one-year old baby in Singapore. Leaving this video for future me.
Childcare was closed and my wife had to work, so I spent the entire day looking after my one-year-old daughter by myself.
My daughter is half Singaporean and half Japanese. I mainly speak to her in Japanese, while my wife uses English and sometimes Chinese. We hope she can grow up speaking all three languages.
In this video, we attempt lunch at Chinatown, introduce her to durian, teach her how to chope a seat and practise some Japanese manners.
Along the way, I share my honest thoughts about raising a child in Singapore, how fatherhood here compares with Japan, and the advantages and limitations of parenting in such a safe but highly urban environment.
I mainly filmed this video for my future self. My daughter still reaches for me and wants to be held, but this stage of life will disappear before I know it.
