Cycling the world - Asia: 14 episode
Racing the clock to reach Iraq before my Turkish visa expires, I leave my camp near Develi and start the day with a long climb. The hours blur into rough rural roads, endless ups and downs, and darkness by the time I finally pitch my tent. The next morning I fix my front brake, replace my chain, and keep pushing. A long tunnel forces me off the main road, my bike computer dies, and the climbs only get tougher. By nightfall I reach Kahramanmaraş and find shelter in a mosque. The following day again short steep climbs leads me toward Gaziantep, where at last I have a real bed waiting for me and can take a shower and wash my clothes after days on the road. The border is getting closer.
